General and Travel Information on Nasipit and its environs:

Nasipit Agusan del Norte

Nasipit, Agusan del Norte

The reason that I have made this site is to try to source information on Nasipit and its environs. If anyone is planning a trip to Mindanao make sure you travel this part of the island as the people here are as friendly as you will find anywhere in the world.    Nasipit lies in the northwestern part of Mindanao. It is bounded in the east and south by the municipality of Buenavista, in the west by the municipality of Carmen, and in the north by Butuan Bay.It is 24 kilometers west of Butuan City and is 175 kilometers northeast of Cagayan de Oro City. It is accessible by sea through the inter-island Ferries docking at the Nasipit International Seaport, from destinations such as Manila, Cebu, Bohol, and Cagayan de Oro.

There are several potential tourist attractions in the municipality. These range from serene beaches lining the coastal barangays of Cubi-cubi, Ata-atahon, Punta,Sta-Ana and Aclan  as well as waterfalls, caves and rivers to explore.Tourism is still in it's infancy at the moment but with proper infrastructure and development can become a major industry for the local population. With the new Council now in place there are some major initiatives in progress including the introduction of the Nasipit Tourism Council being set up.
There are some great sites out there with a wealth of information on Nasipit and the surrounding areas but none better than the following.

Nasipit....
The municipality of Nasipit, one of the 11 municipalities of Agusan del Norte, was identified by the Caraga Regional Development Council (Caraga RDC)The municipality’s identification as the RAGC and its inclusion in the Agusan Norte Special Economic Zone (ANSEZ) can be attributed to the establishment of the Nasipit, Agusan del Norte Industrial Estate (NANIE through Resolution Number 44 Series of 1996, as the Regional Agri-Industrial Growth Center (RAGC) of the Caraga Region.). Covering a total of 296.9 hectares and located within Barangays Camagong and Talisay, the proposed estate is envisaged to be an industrial nucleus or manufacturing center in the province where industrial plants, bonded warehouses, container yards and other industrial facilities will be located and made available to investors.
The Nasipit Agusan del Norte Industrial Estate (NANIE)..... The Nasipit, Agusan del Norte Industrial Estate (NANIE) was initiated and created on
November 15, 1994 by the municipal government of Nasipit under the leadership of Mayor Yvonne B. Carmona with the support of the Sangguniang Bayan. It was created purposely to address the unemployment of thousands of wood-based workers, displaced after the closure of the Nasipit Lumber Company (NALCO) in 1995. The NANIE covers a total of 296.9 hectares or 1,756,170 m2 of land and serves as an industrial nucleus or manufacturing center in the province where industrial plants, bonded warehouses, container yards and other industrial facilities will be developed and be made available to investors. Located within barangays Camagong, Sta. Ana, Amontay, Triangulo and Talisay, its creation was endorsed by the Regional Development Councils (RDCs) of both Region X and the Caraga Region. Envisioned to be the catalyst in making the Caraga Region as one of the centers of trade and commerce in Mindanao, it was identified by the Caraga RDC as the Regional Agri-Industrial Growth Center (RAGC) by RDC Resolution Number 44 series of 1996.The NANIE was conceived primarily because of the following factors already in existence. The Municipality of Nasipit is strategically located between two major trading centers of Butuan City and Cagayan de Oro City, including its proximity to the oft-visited Camiguin Island. It has an international seaport, in addition to its proximity to the Butuan City domestic airport, thus being considered to be an all-season gateway to key cities of the countryIt has a large pool of skilled as well as trainable workers, having been once the center of a huge lumber industryWhile the municipality generally offers a peaceful and green working and living environment, its local government has particularly put in place numerous and attractive tax incentives to prospectiveinvestors.A62-hectare portion of the NANIE was declared by President Joseph Ejercito Estrada as a Special Economic Zone under Presidential Proclamation No. 056, dated December 11, 1998.
